the “full moon” exhibition ~ the magical light of the moon has enchanted artists for centuries. the fascination with the sun's reflection on the moon sets a movement in motion. just as the seas and oceans sway with the moon's gravitational pull, artists and artworks inspire each other. this is what "full moon" is about. this exhibition showcases from 9 september 2023 - 7 april 2024.

this collection exhibition delves into the joy of observing, comparing, and discovering how artists and artworks interact and illuminate each other. jan sluijters' "maannacht iv" kicks off the exhibition, just as it did when this display was first presented at the opening of voorlinden in 2016. you can see the painting reflected in esther tielemans' installation "the performance." in this reprisal, you can once again or for the first time experience the visual journey of "full moon," including some new works from the collection of the voorlinden museum.

over 40 artists and artworks ~ full moon comprises over 40 artworks from the collection of the voorlinden museum, spanning various movements and periods, featuring both emerging talents and established names. the exhibition showcases pieces from dutch artists like rineke dijkstra, katja mater, paul kooiker, and jan sluijters, as well as internationally recognized and lesser-known figures, including andy warhol, haris epaminonda, ai weiwei, damien hirst, olafur eliasson, susan collis, kaari upson, and ugo rondinone. belgian artists are also well-represented, with works from rené magritte, marcel broodthaers, pascale marthine tayou, and mark manders, among others.
